S32550 Duplex Stainless Steel Plate Sheet Corrosion Resistance

  • Pitting resistance: The main difference between UNS S32550 super duplex steel and duplex stainless steel is that super duplex has higher molybdenum and chromium content, which makes the material have stronger corrosion resistance. The composition of duplex stainless steel is 22% chromium, while the composition of super duplex stainless steel is 25% chromium. By increasing the chromium content, the resistance to pitting corrosion is also improved.
  • Acid corrosion: As a 25% Cr alloy, the S32550 duplex stainless steel plate also contains 2% copper for excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of corrosive chemicals including sulfuric, nitric, and phosphoric acids. Super Duplex Steel UNS S32550 has better acid resistance than most other alloys.

255 Duplex Stainless Steel and S32760
Super duplex plate 1.4507 is a very special super duplex grade, this grade is similar to the 1.4410 and 1.4501 super duplex grades. This means that 255 duplex stainless steel is similar in composition to the more widely used super duplex grade UNS S32760. UNS S32550 has slightly higher chromium and copper content, lower nickel content, and no intentionally added tungsten, similar to UNS S32760 PREN 40 requirements.
