ASTM A312 is a standard issued by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) that outlines the specifications for steel seamless and welded pipes. It provides guidelines on the manufacturing process of 321 stainless steel pipes, highlighting the allowable deviation and surface quality requirements. These pipes, classified under the TP321 grade, are composed of titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel, known for its exceptional resistance to corrosion. The addition of titanium in the composition prevents carbide precipitation during welding, making these pipes suitable for applications that involve exposure to high temperatures. Moreover, due to its remarkable resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures, ASTM A312 321 stainless steel pipes are often referred to as "stabilized stainless steel pipes."
- Austenitic stainless steel pipes that are seamless, welded, or heavily cold worked are covered under the ASTM A312 standard specification. This specification outlines the requirements for these types of pipes, ensuring their quality and reliability. The ASTM A312 standard is widely used in various industries that require corrosion-resistant and durable stainless steel pipes. By adhering to this specification, manufacturers can ensure that their products meet the necessary standards and can be utilized in applications where austenitic stainless steel pipes are required.
