The combination of high chromium and nickel content, together with the addition of molybdenum and copper, ensures good to excellent corrosion resistance. 904L has good resistance to organic and inorganic acids. The added copper in the 904L grade gives excellent corrosion resistance to nickel stainless steel, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, hydrochloric acid, etc. It is also a highly resistant chloride pitting solution with excellent resistance to crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.
