Basic Information

Material Grade

There are many different types of stainless steel pipes available on the market, including TP304, TP304L, TP304H, TP316, TP316L, TP316Ti, TP309S, TP310S, TP321, TP321H, TP347, TP347H, S31803, S32750, S32205, and more. Each of these types of pipes has its own unique characteristics and is suitable for different applications.
For example, TP304 and TP304L are both made from the same grade of stainless steel, but TP304L has a lower carbon content, which makes it more suitable for use in environments where corrosion resistance is crucial. TP304H, on the other hand, has a higher carbon content, which makes it more suitable for high-temperature applications.
TP316, TP316L, and TP316Ti are all alloys that contain molybdenum, which gives them enhanced corrosion resistance in high-chloride environments. TP309S and TP310S are both designed for use in high-temperature applications, while TP321 and TP321H are both stabilized with titanium, which helps to prevent sensitization and corrosion in high-temperature environments.
Finally, TP347 and TP347H both contain columbium, which helps to prevent carbide precipitation and sensitization in high-temperature applications. Meanwhile, S31803, S32750, and S32205 are all duplex stainless steels, which offer a combination of high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

ASTM A213 SS 347h Tube Performance Characteristics

  • High-temperature strength: TP347h stainless steel tube has excellent high-temperature strength and is suitable for high-temperature applications such as boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers. The high carbon content contributes to the strength and heat resistance of the material at high temperatures.
  • Corrosion resistance: UNS S34709 tube has excellent corrosion resistance and performs well in acidic and alkaline environments. It can resist the erosion of general corrosive media, such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and alkaline solution.
  • Anti-sensitization: 347h SS tube improves the anti-sensitization performance of the tube by adding stabilizing alloying elements such as niobium and titanium. This reduces the risk of grain boundary corrosion at high temperatures.
  • High strength and high toughness: After quenching and tempering, SS 347h seamless tube has high strength and toughness, and can withstand great pressure and weight.
  • Good welding performance: Din 1.4961 stainless steel tube has good welding performance and can be connected by conventional welding methods.

TP347h Stainless Steel Tube VS TP347 Stainless Steel Tube

When comparing the anti-sensitization performance of the SS 347h tube and 347 stainless steel tube, the anti-sensitization performance of the 347H stainless steel tube is better. This is because 347H stainless steel is chemically optimized with higher carbon content and the addition of some stabilizing alloying elements such as niobium (Nb) and titanium (Ti). High carbon content can promote the formation of carbides at high temperatures, which helps to improve the high-temperature strength and hot corrosion resistance of the material. In addition, the added stabilizing alloying elements (niobium and titanium) are able to combine with carbon to form niobium carbide and titanium carbide, thereby reducing the sensitive area of the grain boundary at high temperatures and reducing the risk of grain boundary corrosion and sensitization.

ASTM A213 SS 347H Tube Heat Treatment

According to ASTM A213 standard, all austenitic steel tubes shall be supplied in the heat-treated condition. And all grades of the tube shall be reheated and fully annealed, supplied isothermally annealed or normalized and tempered.

Grade H steel, it shall be supplied in the state of solid solution treatment. The solution annealing of TP347H grade steel requires a separate solution heat treatment, and the heat treatment in the process is not allowed to replace the separate solution annealing treatment. If it is a 347H cold-drawn seamless stainless steel tube, the minimum solution treatment temperature should be 2000°F ( 1100°C) for TP347H. If the TP347H grade is hot rolled, then the minimum solution treatment temperature for the TP347H grade shall be 1920°F (1050°C).

Stabilization heat treatment SS 347: TP347H stainless tube After the required solution annealing, it should be followed by a stabilization heat treatment lower than the initial solution annealing heat treatment temperature.
